ORLEN, the largest network of filling stations in the Czech Republic and a part of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group, is expanding its responsible business and sustainability efforts. At selected ORLEN stations in Prague and Brno, customers can book surprise bags containing unsold, yet quality food products from the Stop Cafe offer. Excess food represents a significant environmental and social issue, and collaboration with the Nesnězeno platform offers a specific path to face this problem.
“Our aim is to provide practical solutions that combine sustainability and customer comfort. The collaboration with mobile and web platforms, such as Nesnězeno, helps us reduce food waste and at the same time offer an attractive form of shopping that is becoming increasingly popular among our customers and the general public. Nesnězeno is our second solution in this area, complementing our efforts to make retail more sustainable,” says Agnieszka Bobrukiewicz, a member of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group responsible for retail in Czechia, Hungary, and Slovakia, and for the development of convenience sales at the ORLEN Group.
The content of Nesnězeno bags changes depending on the daily excess food but always includes fresh food products that would otherwise go to waste. The pilot phase offers two variants – a salty Stop Cafe bag for CZK 79 and a sweet Stop Cafe bag for CZK 49. Thus, customers can get sweet bakery items, croissants, sandwiches, wraps, panini, and baguettes at favourable prices. They can book and pay them using the Nesnězeno app. The bags can be picked up at selected ORLEN sites in Prague and Brno between noon and 4 pm – ideally during the usual stop for refuelling or a cup of coffee.
“We have a wealth of experience with large chains, including cafés, bakeries and food sellers. Therefore, we are pleased to welcome another strong brand present in the Czech market, such as ORLEN. I am convinced that we have a lot to offer. They can rely on our customer base of more than 1.2 million users, a national coverage and more than seven years of experience in the local market, with a possibility to expand to the neighbouring countries,” says Jakub Henni, co-founder and CEO of Nesnězeno, adding: “ORLEN helps us spread the idea that even smaller amounts of excess food are worth saving because altogether, they create a significant positive impact.”
The project is currently in the pilot stage to verify the customer interest in Stop Cafe surprise packages. Based on the results of this stage, it will be decided whether to expand the collaboration to other ORLEN stations across the country. Thus, the company continues to develop its activities promoting sustainability and offers customers another option to actively participate in these efforts.

ORLEN – the international network of fuels, energy and refreshments
The ORLEN network of filling stations is a member of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group owned by the international ORLEN Group, which runs more than 3,500 fuel stations in seven Central European countries – Poland, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia. In Czechia, the ORLEN network comprises 441 stations with a 28.5% market share in the volume of fuels sold. The ORLEN network is a market leader in terms of both the number of sites and the volume of fuels sold. The popularity of the ORLEN brand with Czech consumers is reflected by the fact that the ORLEN network of filling stations has been awarded as the Most Trustworthy Brand in Czechia six times and as the Merchant of the Year three times.
At its stations, ORLEN offers premium Efecta fuel with a proven purifying effect and top-class Verva fuel that cares for the engine system and offers enhanced performance parameters. ORLEN sites also provide alternative fuels, including liquified petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), synthetic fuel HVO100, and battery- and hydrogen-driven e-mobility. ORLEN offers electricity at 294 charging points and operates hydrogen refuelling stations in Prague- Barrandov and Litvínov-Záluží.
The Stop Cafe concept is a significant part of the offering, being a crucial pillar in ORLEN brand’s convenience sales. In the Czech Republic, Stop Cafe is available at 357 out of 441 filling stations, i.e., at more than 80% of them. It is offered at nearly 2,500 sites within the entire international network. Stop Cafe offers a broad range of meals and food products – from popular hotdogs and coffee to more than 1,000 products, including packaged food, ready-to-serve meals, and specialities in traditional, vegetarian, and vegan versions. The offer keeps developing – the ORLEN competence centre in Prague is working on new product ranges focused on a healthy lifestyle, including breakfasts, bakery products, ready-to-serve meals, and private brand products that will react to the current trends and customer needs.
ORLEN also issues its own fuel cards, EASY and BUSINESS, and runs two mobile apps – the loyalty ORLEN app and a car care app, Mycí digi linka.
